Point Discrepancies and Delays

A detailed overview of Rumpel’s safeguards and classification system for auditing point streams, ensuring accurate Real Yield calculations and transparent point delivery.

Rapid protocol expansion can sometimes outpace the completion and integrity of point integrations, causing discrepancies and delays in point delivery. While these delays frustrate some users, most are indifferent, trusting the project will settle all discrepancies before the season’s conclusion/airdrop.

Rumpel Point Sellers, however, are particularly sensitive to discrepancies because delays or inaccuracies directly impact Real Yield performance and their expected return.

While Rumpel Labs will continue to surface all discrepancies to point issuers, we believe the best solution is to improve the transparency of point streams and firmly establish expectations with our users, all without hindering Rumpel protocol growth.

This document describes the safeguards we’ve established to audit and classify point streams, ensuring Real Yields reflect accurate point stream delivery.

Point Stream Auditing

Before onboarding a new strategy, Rumpel audits all of its point streams supported within the Rumpel protocol. To conduct the audit, we deploy capital into the strategy through a fresh wallet and measure the point accrual over several days.

Point Stream States

Once we’ve measured the point accrual rates, we assign one of the following states:

  1. Verified

    • Actual point accrual is within the Verified Tolerance of the advertised accrual, and the point stream contributes to the strategy’s Real Yield calculation.

    • The Verified Tolerance is currently +-20%. The threshold was chosen to account for differences across point program implementations, such as accrual cadence and USD prices, as well as known statistical errors in our evaluation method. Over time, we’ll tighten the Verified Tolerance as we collect more data points.

  2. Delayed

    • The point issuer has publicly committed to retroactively distribute points once the point diversion integration is complete. Until this occurs, the point stream’s contribution to Real Yield will be 0.00%. Once the promised, retroactive distribution is verified, the stream will be updated to Verified.

  3. Partial

    • Actual point accruals are below advertised rates. This state will display both the advertised rate and the actual delivery rate (e.g., <advertised rate> (<actual delivery>)).

    • Notes:

      • This state is expected to be rare since we typically pause onboarding for strategies with unresolved discrepancies. However, it may be used if there are meaningful Verified point streams to tokenize.

      • For known min-balance vesting, the live accrual rate considers the XX% cliff vesting. E.g. for Ethena, if the actual accrual rate is 75% of advertised, and 50% is vested at the airdrop, then the percentage shown is 75%*50% = 37.5% ~= 37%

  4. N/A

    • No point token market exists for this strategy, so we simply present the advertised point accrual rate without auditing its integrity.

Users can see these point stream states on the Earn tab, within a strategy’s Real Yield tooltip. These states allow us to provide users with clear information about the Real Yield contribution of each strategy's point stream.
